The journey began with Mr. Akbar Shah, a dedicated artisan from Kashmir, who meticulously handcrafted exquisite pashmina shawls. In 1975, his son, Mr. Afzal Shah, formalized the venture by establishing Ally’s Textile, aiming to bring the elegance of pashmina to a broader audience. The legacy continued with Mr. Aga, who introduced modern manufacturing processes while preserving traditional techniques, leading to the brand’s growth and innovation. Today, the fourth generation of the Shah family continues to uphold this legacy, producing a diverse range of authentic pashmina shawls that blend tradition with contemporary elegance.
Pashmina, derived from the fine undercoat of the Changthangi goat, is renowned for its exceptional softness, warmth, and lightweight nature. The term “pashmina” is often used interchangeably with “cashmere,” but it specifically refers to a finer subset of cashmere fibers, typically ranging from 12–16 microns in diameter.
